General Ledger Codes
GLCODES is a multi-purpose file. It holds information relating to systems, source codes, folders and process groups. System codes are defined in System Control. Each system code represents a subsystem that interfaces transactions to the Lawson General Ledger or uses Subsystem Control features. Subsystem Control features determine at what point the Lawson General Ledger is closed, and which dates are valid for entry in the subsystems. In addition, the status of the entry as it hits the General Ledger can be controlled for each system. Choices are released or unreleased. Source codes provide the Lawson General Ledger system with a method of identifying and classifying transactions. Any transaction either entering the General Ledger from a subsystem or created in GL must have a source code. Source codes (defined in Source Codes) help to group and total transactions on reports. Folders also provide a method for identifying and classifying. However, they classify the pieces used to create Lawson GL Report Writer reports. Folders are defined in RW01 (Folders). Process groups are created in RW02 (Process Groups). They group Lawson GL Report Writer reports that should be processed (run) at the same time.
