The Asset Book file stores the asset book records used to depreciate assets.
Each asset book record describes the depreciation parameters needed to
depreciate an asset, based on a specific depreciation book assigned to the
asset.
Each Asset file record may have one or more related records in the Asset Book
file, one for each book assigned to the asset.

ASB-ASSET Element: Asset | Numeric 10 The asset number associated with the
asset book record.
The asset number contains up to ten
numeric characters that uniquely
identify an asset. Assets are
automatically numbered system-wide.

ASB-BOOK Element: Book | Alpha 10 A book name assigned to the asset.
Books are user-defined and are used by
assets for calculating depreciation,
replacement cost, and insurance values,
and for reporting.

ASB-BOOK-STATUS Element: Book Status | Alpha 1 This field identifies the status of the
book. Valid values are:
A = Active
I = Inactive

ASB-LIFE Element: Life | Numeric 4 The life value of the asset, expressed
in months.
Note: The asset life can be different
for each depreciation book used.

ASB-LIFE-REM Element: Life Remaining | Signed 7.3 The asset life remaining, expressed in
months. This value represents the number
of months the Asset Management system
will continue to depreciate the asset.

ASB-BOOK-BASIS Element: Book Basis | Signed 18.2 The amount on which the depreciation
calculations are based.
Note: The depreciation basis amount
can be different for each depreciation
book used.

ASB-METHOD Element: Method | Alpha 10 The method the book uses to calculate
depreciation for the asset. Standard
depreciation methods are predefined.
Additional methods can be user defined
for the following kinds of methods:
compute statements, annual percent
tables, and annual and period units of
production tables. Valid predefined
values are:
SL = Straight Line.
200DB = 200 percent declining balance.
175DB = 175 percent declining balance.
150DB = 150 percent declining balance.
125DB = 125 percent declining balance.
SYD = Sum of the year's digits.

ASB-METH-SWITCHED Element: Method Switched | Alpha 1 This field indicates whether the Asset
Management system has switched the
depreciation method to the optimizing
method. Valid values are:
N = No.
Y = Yes.

ASB-INSRV-DATE Element: In Service Date | Numeric 8 (yyyymmdd) The date the asset was placed in
service.
Note: The in-service date can be
different for each depreciation book
used.

ASB-METH-TABLE-YR Element: Method Table Year | Numeric 2 The year the asset was placed in
service.

ASB-CONVENTION Element: Convention | Alpha 2 The depreciation convention assigned to
the book. This value is used to
determine the first and last years'
depreciation amounts to take. Valid
values are:
FM = Full Month.
HM = Modified Half Month.
MM = Mid Month.
NM = Next Month.
HY = Half Year.
MY = Modified Half Year.
FY = Full Year.
AD = Actual Days.
MQ = Mid Quarter.

expressed in years. This value is
calculated by dividing the Life value by
12.

ASB-STATUS-CP-CALC Calc Status Current Period | Alpha 1 This field indicates whether
depreciation has been calculated for the
current period.

ASB-LIFE-CP Element: Current Period Life | Signed 5.3 This is the current period portion of
the asset life.

ASB-TRAN-ND Transaction Number of Decimals | Numeric 1 The number of decimal positions defined
for the transaction currency.

for this book. This amount includes only
the business use, not the personal use,
portion of the depreciation

period for this book.

ASB-FIRST-LAST-FL Element: First or Last Flag | Alpha 1 This field is an internal,
system-maintained value used to control
depreciation calculations during the
first and last years of an asset's life.
Valid values are:
F = First. This is the first in-service
year for the asset.
M = Middle. The asset is in a year
other than the first or last.
L = Last. This is the last in-service
year for the asset.
C = Completely Depreciated. The asset
no longer participates in depreciation
calculations.
P = Post Recovery. The system will
continue to depreciate the asset beyond
the original asset life.

ASB-INACT-YTD Inactive Year-to-Date | Signed 5.3 This is the number of inactive months
for the book year-to-date.

ASB-INACT-LTD Inactive Life-to-Date | Signed 7.3 This is the number of inactive months
for the book life-to-date.

ASB-SALVAGE-VALUE Element: Salvage Value | Signed 18.2 The salvage value of the asset at the
end of the asset's life. It can be zero.
If the depreciation method is STL
(Straight Line), the basis used for the
depreciation calculation is the asset
cost less this salvage value.
If the depreciation method is DDB
(Double Declining Balance), 150 (150%
Declining Balance), or 175 (175%
Declining Balance), the basis used for
the depreciation calculation is the
asset cost. Depreciation will be taken
until the total amount taken is equal to
the asset cost less this salvage value.

ASB-BUS-PERCENT Element: Business Percent | Signed 5.2 The business percent usage of the
asset. If this value is less than 100
percent, the value is used in
depreciation calculations.

ASB-PERSONAL-USE Element: Personal Use | Alpha 10 The personal use code assigned to the
asset. A personal use code defines the
personal use options that asset books
use to calculate depreciation, tax
credits, and annual depreciation limits
up to twenty years. The code is user
definable.

ASB-YR1-EXP Element: First Year Expense | Signed 18.2 This is the new first year expense
amount. It represents the amount to
expense for the First Year Expense
option. This U.S. tax option allows you
to expense and not depreciate a total
dollar amount for the assets of each
eligible company.

ASB-TC-TABLE Element: Tax Credit Table | Alpha 10 A user-defined tax credit table, which
defines tax credit percentages and
annual tax credit recapture percentages
for up to twenty years. Asset books use
tax credit tables to calculate tax
credits.

ASB-TC-PROPERTY Element: Tax Credit Property | Signed 18.2 If you are taking a tax credit for used
property, this field contains the amount
that qualifies for the credit.

ASB-TAX-CREDIT Element: Tax Credit | Signed 18.2 This is the amount of tax credit taken
for this asset.
|
|
ASB-INS-METHOD Element: Insurance Method | Alpha 10 The method used to calculate insurance
values for the asset.
|

ASB-INS-ACT-VAL Insurance Actual Value | Signed 18.2 The actual insurance value of the
asset.
|
|
ASB-INS-CMPTD-VAL Insurance Computed Value | Signed 18.2 The calculated insurance value for the
asset.

ASB-RPL-METHOD Element: Replacement Method | Alpha 10 The method used to calculate
replacement values for the asset.

ASB-RPL-CMPTD-VAL Replacement Computed Value | Signed 18.2 The calculated replacement value for
the asset.

is a required book to be used by all new

is a posting book that posts journal
entries to the general ledger.
