Payroll Tax Reporting Group

The Payroll Tax Reporting Group serves as both the header and detail file for tax reporting groups. Tax reporting groups are used for quarterly and W-2 reporting and payment taxation processing. When the system generates W-2s or quarterly reports, it uses information from the head process level, such as name, address, and tax ID, instead of the company information. For payment taxation processing, the system checks for a link to a head process level if the employee's home process level is not to be treated independently for tax reporting (Independent field value = N). If the system finds a head process level, the head process level determines the tax authority and tax company used for the employee's payment taxation processing. If the system does not find a head process level, all taxation processing takes place at the company level.
