PA06.1 - Position Rules
Use Position Rules (PA06.1) to define rules that indicate how you will
use positions for reporting and budgeting.
NOTE You cannot delete a company level rule if a process or department
level rule still exists for that company.
**Processing Effect
Position rules have dates on which the rules take effect. These effective
dates let you
- keep a historical record of the rules you have applied and
- provide flexibility in the timing of changes to your rules.
When you change position rules, you can either add a new rule with a
new effective date or change the existing rule.
If you change the existing rule without making a new rule with a new
effective date, you will not have a historical record of the change. Therefore, consider adding a new a rule with a new effective date whenever youchange any rules that could affect future counts and calculations such as count category, minimum and maximum values, and use of authorized counts.
When you add a new effective dated company rule, you also need to re-define
any process level or department rules for that company. This is true even
if the rules at the process level or department are not changing.
**More Information
Additional rules related to positions are established in Company (HR00.1)
Employee Status Codes (HR03.1), Requisition Status Code (HR04.8), and Position
Item Attributes (HR10.2).
