The salary cap schedule file stores salary caps required by various grant funding agencies. If an employee works on research funded by a grant subject to salary cap, and the employee's annual salary is greater than the cap, the grant recipient must cover the excess salary. Salary cap information is stored by salary cap schedule and currency in a header file (GMSALCAP) with effective dates and salary cap amounts stored in an associated detail file (GMSALCAPX). Salary cap schedules are assigned to posting activities and are used to adjust percentages in labor distribution templates. Salary cap schedules are also used by the Salary Cap Alert Report (GM412).
